These floating live-edge L-shaped Macrocarpa shelves were an ambitious project combining multiple features with much trial & error along the way. The shelves themselves were relatively straightforward to craft out of a large slab, albeit time-consuming, and retaining the live-edge was a fun process. Fitting them to the corner walls on the other hand was not so straightforward! Of course, nothing is ever truly straight or square in an old house. The corner widens as it goes up and the walls on either side are not flat, meaning each shelf had to be shaped to fit each specific spot on the wall.
Given the end result however, I think it was worth the effort. I love the natural bark inclusions, L-shape and deep grooves and the round-overs on the outside edges give it that modern-rustic vibe I aim for.
